Marcel Yates was a defensive coordinator for the Arizona Wildcats who was fired on October 27, 2019, when the team offered a disappointing defensive performance at Stanford.
Marcel Yates returns for his third season as Arizona defensive coordinator as well as joins Kevin Sumlin, for whom he worked as a co-coordinator at Texas A&M from 2012-13. Waits, who coached linebackers for the Wildcats in 2016 and then cornerbacks in 2017, will coach linebackers again this season. Before being held by Sumlin, Yates served as the program’s interim head coach from 2 to 14 January.
