Brittney Shipp is a prominent meteorologist nominee for the African-American Emmy Award who has reported for numerous significant networks.

Brittney, an individual with many strengths and passions, is also an author of children’s books and an enthusiastic world traveller.



Early Life & Family Background :

Brittney is an African-American woman born and raised in Los Angeles, California.
She has three athletic brothers : Josh, Jerren, and Joe, who all excelled at basketball. She, however, deems herself a girly-girl in contrast.


Her father, Joseph Shipp, played football during his time at the University of Southern California (USC).

In early 2020, Britney announced that she was expecting a baby in the summer of 2020. She had eloped to Paris with her beau Jontue Long, and they posted photos in front of the Eiffel Tower.


Education :

Brittney spent high school at Fairfax High School, where she practiced volleyball and tennis.
After graduation, as part of the 2005 cohort, she earned a degree in International Development Studies at UCLA.


Brittney has been trained in Spain and Italy by UCLA Study Abroad initiatives.
She also received a Televised Meteorology Degree from the State University of Mississippi.


Career, Income, Salary & Net Worth :

Brittney praises UCLA with her starting as a general assignment reporter, where she kept a spot on the campus TV news network, Bruin News 29.
She worked as an intern at KTLA during college and as a news assistant at L.A.’s ABC7 Eyewitness News.


She transferred to Arizona after graduating from UCLA, where she began her career at NBC’s affiliate KYMA in Yuma for two years. There, for the weekday morning coverage, she focused on the weather and special characteristics.
Over the next five years, she then moved to Phoenix, where she worked for 3TV’s Good Morning Arizona.

While in Phoenix, Brittney was a tutor at the Arizona Science Center for the Junior Forecasters Initiative, where she mentored grade school children.
Brittney then reported with NBC10 News as a weekend meteorologist from 2013-2016.
Although on NBC10, Shipp worked on NBC’s Early Today, and MSNBC’s First Glance, Way Too Early and Morning Joe, as a meteorologist.

Brittney returned to NBC10 in Jan 2018 after serving for almost 3 years as the chief meteorologist for KRON4.


Other Pursuits :

In 2016, Brittney wrote a children’s book named The Meteorologist in Me. A little kid, Autumn, watches this book as she overcomes challenges to become a meteorologist for TV.
She is active in contributing back to the society as well. For the Shadow Foundation, she completed a half-marathon.
