Greenleaf synopsis, TV summary and spoiler

“Greenleaf” reflects on the journey of Grace Greenleaf (Merle Dandridge, “The Night Shift”), an abandoned daughter and disillusioned pastor, who returned home after 20 years due to the mysterious death of her sister, Faith. As she returns to the realm of Calvary Fellowship World Missions, the Memphis megachurch operated by her influential parents,

Bishop James Greenleaf (Keith David, “Enlisted” and “Community”) and Lady Mae Greenleaf (Lynn Whitfield, “The Josephine Baker Story”), it becomes clear that things are not as virtuous as they appear and that the public show of faith of the family masks guilt and misdeeds.

The Greenleaf family tree would split at the root in the second season of the series when Jacob (Lamman Rucker, “Why Did I Get Married?”) ventures off to begin his new profession with long-time competitor Triumph Ministries church, breaking faith with his boss, Bishop James Greenleaf (Emmy winner Keith David, “Community”) while his mother, Lady Mae Greenleaf (Golden Globe candidate and Emmy winner Lynn Whitfield, “The Josephine Baker Story”). In the meantime, after discovering the exploits of her Uncle Mac (GregAlan Williams, “The Accountant”), still not taking him to justice, Grace “Gigi” Greenleaf (Merle Dandridge, “The Night Shift”) finds herself fascinated by someone new, Darius Nash (guest star Rick Fox, “Dope”), a local journalist who has been closely tracking the continuing attacks plaguing the Greenleaf empire.
