Kash Doll Confesses She Often Lies About Her Real Age

Katy Perry may be one perfect example of the prospective musician in the nice girl portrait, Edgy and not necessarily like herself. Born on October 25, 1984, into a strict Christian household, Perry was later known for her album Ur So Queer. Her parents are two committed pastors who have advised their daughter to sing at restaurants or churches nearby. Perry believed that her mother used to prohibit her from listening to what they call “secular music.” Thus, when she heard the voice of Freddie Mercury one day at a sleeping group, Young Perry was appropriate for gospel music.

She was also opened up to another future side of music, inspired by the Queen’s frontman’s singing style, although it was not until far later that this side of her appeared as her principal music style. At the age of 15, Perry moved from her home town of Santa Barbara, California, to Nashville to collaborate directly with songwriters. Later on, she was signed to Red Hill Records by Steve Thomas and Jennifer Knapp to work on her first album that used Katy Hudson as her real name. Christian songs were included in the collection and it was released in 2001.

At 17, she met Glen Ballard, the man behind the intense success of Alanis Morissette on the album “Jagged Little Pill” Citing Morissette as one of her artistic sources, Perry felt comfort when working with Ballard. She became the vocalist of The Matrix’s production team in 2004 and released several songs with Ballard that made Blender magazine call her “The Next Big Thing” Perry was discovered during her sessions with Ballard by Capitol Music executive Jason Flom, who then agreed to sign her to the label in the spring of 2007.

Through joining the enormous record label, Perry was introduced to a host of popular musicians, including Greg Wells, Butch Walker, Dr. Luke and Max Martin. In November 2007, she offered to stream “Ur So Gay” from her MySpace account free of charge. In an episode of the teen romance series Gossip Girl, the latter song was included, leading it to jump up to No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 list. It was an instant hit, but it was the second single that propelled her to chart success, called “I Kissed a Girl”.
