Meghan Trainor was born in the Massachusetts town of Nantucket on December 22, 199Growing up with a creative family, at the age of 11, she started writing songs. She and her two brothers attended Nauset High School on Cape Cod until transferring to Hyannis, where she performed and played the trumpet in a jazz ensemble. With Johnny Spampinato, a noted musician with the NRBQ and the Amazing Casuals, she even learnt to play music.
In 2009 and 2010, Trainor also enrolled in the Berklee College of Music Performance Curriculum, a special five-week course. She won high scores and entered the final of their award for songwriting. She had self-released three albums of her own material by the time she was 18, and landed a Major Yellow Dog Music publishing contract that put her songs with artists such as Rascal Flatts, Macy Kate, Popular Kings, and Sabrina Carpenter. She then reached an arrangement with Epic Records for a recording.

Trainor said of the single, which debuted on Billboard Hot 100 on July 26, 2014, at number 84 but ultimately hit No. 1 on the list, “I wrote this song because I myself struggle with this concept of self-acceptance. It was written from a real place so I’m glad that other people can relate to it,”
Fatima Robinson directed her music video, and Charm La’Donna choreographed it. It includes an appearance by the celebrity Sione Maraschino from Vine.

At the 2016 Grammy Awards, Trainor was awarded with the Best New Artist category following her popular release.
Trainor dropped the single “No” as the first teaser of her second album “Thank You” which is expected to be published on May 20, weeks after earning her first Grammy. The track became an immediate success, earning favorable critical attention and making its debut on the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 11.
