Shawn Mendes, born on August 8, 1998 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, was born Shawn Peter Raul Mendes. In a suburb of the city named Pickering, he was educated. He began his music career in 2013, after Vine released his first cover video. It’s just a six-second video of him performing with a guitar in his lap, but the video was like a wildfire.
As he kept sharing a blend of covers, Shawn even started posting his own special original melodies. His videos circulated across Vine, Facebook, Instagram, Facebook, and any possible online media outlet, attracting millions of views.
Shawn is currently the third biggest singer on Vine, surpassing stars such as Wiz Khalifa, Justin Bieber, Mac Miller and many more, with more than 10 million combined YouTube streams, and now over 1.8 million Vine subscribers, and is becoming one of the most buzzed-about youth music artists.
Shawn launched his debut EP, “The Shawn Mendes” in the middle of 201The set, which debuted at No. 5 on Billboard 200, contains the hit single “Life of the Party” that reached No. 24 on Billboard 100 and made Shawn the youngest artist with a debut song to crack the top 25 of the list.
The EP made its debut and peaked on Billboard 200 at No. With his 2015 debut LP, “Handwritten” which landed on the album chart at No.1, Shawn then followed it up. The album spawned the best song yet from the artist, “Stitches” On the Billboard Hot 100, the song hit No. 4, being his first top ten track on the chart.
“Shawn supported Taylor Swift on her “1989” tour the same year. He had an opportunity to collaborate with Fifth Harmony’s Camila Cabello between the tour dates. The two co-wrote a song named “I Know What You Did Last Summer” which was subsequently published and included in the re-issue of his album at the end of 2015.
Shawn started teasing his sophomore attempt at the start of 2016 by lowering his “Treat You Better” lead break. The single has hit No. 8 on the Hot 100 so far and its parent album “Illuminate” is expected to be released on September 23.
At the peak of the Billboard 200 list, the album itself released and was platinum certified. On August 18, the second single from the effort, “Mercy” was released and was double platinum certified. “The artist went on a world tour in support of the album after performing as the musical guest on “Saturday Night Live”.
Shawn was inspired to issue a deluxe edition of the album by the popularity of ‘Illuminate’. He then launched in April 2017 the song “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back”. The Mainstream Top 40 airplay list was driven by the album. He became the first singer under the age of 20 years to get three No. 1 singles on the Billboard Adult Pop Songs list later that year.
Shawn also came out as the top champion at the 2017 MTV Europe Music Awards, organized at the SSE Arena in Wembley, the same year. He took home four awards for “There’s Nothing Holdin ‘Me Back,” which were “Biggest Fans, Best Artist, Best Canadian Act and Best Song.”
Having a promising job, it was no wonder why he was placing his personal life in the spotlight. After having left a Halloween party hand-in-hand, he was believed to be dating Hailey Baldwin. When they were spotted French kissing at Rita Ora’s MTV EMAs after-party, they later added steam to the speculation. Shawn was once reported to be dating Camila Cabello at the Artichoke Pizza in New York after being photographed enjoying a pizza date.
