The Leftovers synopsis, TV summary and spoiler

If 2% of the population of the planet unexpectedly disappears without warning, the world is trying to come to grips with what has occurred. Three years after, The Leftovers, the HBO drama series, is the story of those who have not made the cut.

The Leftovers tracks Kevin Garvey (Justin Theroux), a father of two and the police chief in a tiny New York neighborhood, on the basis of Tom Perrotta’s best-selling book, when he attempts to preserve some semblance of normalcy as the term no longer exists.

Since Mapleton was thrown into confusion by the Guilty Remnant’s elaborate Memorial Day campaign last season, season two of ‘The Leftovers’ leaves many hoping for a new start. Kevin Garvey (Justin Theroux) has resigned from his job as Mapleton Chief of Police and is heading to Texas with his new family. With him is Nora Durst (Carrie Coon), who has discovered a new mission of taking charge of the kid she finds on the doorstep of Kevin and embraces leaving Mapleton behind and the incredible disaster she experienced there. Kevin’s daughter, Jill, is equally happy to escape the city in which she grew up and the friends she made there (Margaret Qualley).

The newly established Garvey family encounters their neighbours, the Murphys: John (Kevin Carroll) and Erika (Regina King), and their adolescent twins, Evie (Jasmin Savoy Brown) and Michael Brown, upon their arrival in Jarden, Texas (Jovan Adepo). Matt Jamison (Christopher Eccleston) has relocated with his mom, Mary (Janel Moloney), who is still enduring the effects of the horrible car crash on October 14, drawn to this unique town and looking for miracles for his whole family.

Meanwhile, Laurie Garvey (Amy Brenneman), Kevin’s ex-wife, left the Guilty Remnant and reunited with her baby, Tom (Chris Zylka), who may have eventually found a reason to help his heart replace the hurt. And though Meg (Liv Tyler) stays in the Guilty Remnant, the same cult she initially joined might not be the same.
