Yo Gotti was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on May 19, 1981, as Mario Mims. He was brought up in an infamous crime-ridden community in the housing projects of Ridge Crest. The hustlers were his father, his mother, his uncle, and his aunt. When Gotti was in second grade, they were seized by police. Consequently, on the highways, he began thugging to fend for the household.


Gotti turned to hip-hop at the age of fourteen. Together with his Memphis underground band, he began rapping in the 1990s. “Youngsta on a Come Up”Youngsta on a Come Up. The album quickly became a local success, making Gotti one of the most brilliant rappers in Memphis and the chief of the local underground hip-hop community. In the early 2000s, after touring across Memphis in the nineties, Gotti began paving his way as a national hip-hop star. A series of independent albums were published between 2000 and 2006, including “From Da Dope Game 2 Da Rap Game”, “Self Explanatory”, “Life” and “Back 2 Da Basics”
The first big effort by Yo Gotti, “Live From the Kitchen” was released via the Polo Grounds/RCA record label in 201This album has become a huge critical success. It landed effectively in the U.S. at No. Rap lists, and after shipping more than 16,000 copies in its first week at No. 12 on Billboard 200.


In the following year, another attempt named ‘I Am’ was launched by the artist, which blasted to No. 7 on Billboard 200. It marked the first official release of Gotti via a label he founded, CMGG (Collective Music Group). Between 2014 and 2017, via the company, he published a collection of mixtapes.
A more mainstream success was the follow-up to “I Am”. Titled “The Art of Hustle” via Epic Records and CMG, the effort arrived in 201It debuted at No. 4 on Billboard 200 with more than 45,000 copies sold in its first week. Meanwhile, a single called “Down in the DM” off the album reached No. 13 on Billboard Hot 100.
