Richard David James (born August 18, 1971), better known by his stage name Aphex Twin, is a British electronic musician and composer who is best recognised for his work in the electronic music genre. He has been dubbed “the most creative and important person in modern electronic music” by The Guardian, and he and Grant Wilson-Claridge are the co-founders of the record label Rephlex Records. FACT Magazine named Aphex Twin’s album Selected Ambient Works 85-92 as the greatest album of the 1990s, citing it as the best of the decade.

 AFX is the alias under which James has published a number of EPs between 1991 and 2005, notably the Analogue Bubblebath series of EPs. After a number of years of suspicion, James published some works under the pseudonym The Tuss in 2007, sparking even more conjecture. Confederation Trough EP and Rushup Edge were among the Tuss materials used in this project. He finally acknowledged that he was the artist responsible for it. 

In addition to Aphex Twin recordings on Rephlex, James has released Aphex Twin records on Warp, R&S, Sire, Mighty Force, Rabbit City, and Men Records, among other labels. Aphex Twin’s Twitter account announced the release of Syro, his sixth studio album, after public sightings of the Aphex Twin logo in London, England, and New York City, New York, United States, in August 201Syro was officially released on September 23, 2014, via the Warp music label, with a subsequent press release.
