In 1937, Bella Emberg was born Sybil I. Dyke in the town of Hove in the county of Sussex, England, United Kingdom. She was a British actress who featured on The Benny Hill Show and The Russ Abbot Show, where she portrayed the character of Blunderwoman. She has also featured in the films Softly, Softly and Z Cars, as well as minor parts in the television series Grange Hill, where she played a cleaner. Her professional début took place during the summer season of 1962 in Ryde, Isle of Wight, in a weekly repertory production. Doctor Who, the science fiction television programme broadcast on BBC One, featured her three times as a guest star. 

She also appeared as a guest star on The Basil Brush Show. In the 1970s, she appeared in the Third Doctor serials Doctor Who and the Silurians and The Time Warrior, both of which were uncredited. In 2006, she appeared as Mrs Croot in the Tenth Doctor episode “Love & Monsters,” in which she had a supporting role. Mrs Croot had a second appearance in “The Runaway Bride,” which was taped but not broadcast because of technical difficulties. During the second season of CBBC’s “Bear Behaving Badly,” in 2008, she portrayed the role of Aunt Barbara. She returned for the third series in 2009 and the fourth in 2010.
