Don Mancini (born January 25, 1963) is an American screenwriter, producer, and director who has worked in a variety of genres. Mr. Mancini is perhaps most recognised for his work on the character of Chucky and for scripting all of the films in the Child’s Play franchise. Mancini was also the executive producer of Bride of Chucky and the director of Seed of Chucky, as well as the newest chapter in the Child’s Play series, Curse of Chucky.
Mancini was born in New York City and raised in California. Michael McDowell and Clive Barker are two of the few openly homosexual authors working in the slasher film genre, with Mancini being one of them. In 2007, he was honoured with the EyeGore Award for his contributions to the horror genre during his career. Kit Du Bois is a pseudonym that he uses from time to time (also spelled Kit Dubois). Mancini went at St. Christopher’s School in Richmond, Virginia, and Columbia University in New York City before becoming a director.
