Gary Shaw (born 21 January 1961) is a former English football striker who played for Aston Villa in the early 1980s. He is the son of former England international Gary Shaw. Aston Villa won the English First Division in 1980–81 and the European Cup the following year, with his goals serving as the club’s catalyst. He was the only player on the squad who was born in Birmingham. In 1981, he was named the Premier Football Association’s Young Player of the Year. He was also included to the preliminary England World Cup team for the 1982 finals, which consisted of 40 players, however he was not selected for the final 2After suffering a knee injury while on the road against Nottingham Forest, his promising Villa career was essentially over.

Shaw was a member of the England Under-21 team for seven years. While growing up in Meriden Drive, Kingshurst, he would spend hours kicking about a football on the piece of grass in front of the Punch Bowl public house, which was known as ‘The Island’ by the locals.
