Jack Fallon (October 13, 1915, London, Ontario – May 22, 2006, London, England) was a British jazz bassist born in Canada. He began playing the double bass at the age of 20 after studying violin. He was a member of a dance band in the Royal Canadian Air Force during WWII, and following his release, he moved in the United Kingdom. In 1946, he joined Ted Heath’s band and spent his free time playing bebop in London bars. He collaborated with Jack Jackson (1947), George Shearing (1948), and Django Reinhardt after performing with Ronnie Scott and Tommy Whittle at the Melody Maker/Columbia Jazz
Rally in 194(1949). Soon after playing with Reinhardt, he joined a Count Basie band that included Malcolm Mitchell and Tony Crombie; after leaving Basie, he worked with both of them, working with Hoagy Carmichael and Maxine Sullivan and touring in Sweden with Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli.Fallon worked as an accompanist to Mary Lou Williams, Sarah Vaughan, and Lena Horne in the 1950s. He also worked as the house bassist at Lansdowne Studios. He performed with Johnny Duncan’s Blue Grass Boys and collaborated with blues artists such as Big Bill Broonzy and Josh White outside of jazz. Fallon rose to prominence as the bass guitar grew in popularity.
