During his 38-year career as a sportscaster on radio and television, Kenneth R. Coleman (April 22, 1925 – August 21, 2003) was known as “Kenny R.” (1952-1989). Coleman, a native of Quincy, Massachusetts, began his broadcasting career with the NFL’s Cleveland Browns (1952-1965), calling play-by-play for every touchdown scored by Hall of Fame running back Jim Brown throughout his tenure with the franchise. Also in Cleveland, he started his Major League Baseball broadcasting career, calling Cleveland Indians games on television for a total of 10 seasons (1954-1963). Coleman called the Indians’ record-setting 111-win season, as well as their World Series defeat to the New York Giants, during his first season with the organisation.
