“Syd Little (born Cyril Mead on December 19, 1942) is an English comedian who was previously known for his role as “the straight guy” in the duo “Little and Large,” which included Eddie Large.

Little, who was born in Blackpool, grew up in Manchester. Little began his musical career as a singer and guitarist in Manchester bars after graduating from Yew Tree Secondary Modern School in Wythenshawe and worked as an interior designer before joining forces with Large. Originally known as Cyril Mead and Friend, then Mead and McGinnis, after changing their name to Little and Large, their duo act won the television competition Opportunity Knocks in 1971, launching them into a lucrative television career that lasted for 20 years. 

It was shot in 1976 that the duo’s first television pilot was produced, and it was then turned into a regular series in 197In 1991, the programme was terminated after 14 years on the air. Little slipped into relative obscurity after the termination of The Little and Large Show, appearing on sporadic television programmes such as Shooting Stars until 2005, when he appeared on the reality television show Trust Me I’m A Holiday Representative. He has also appeared on The Bob Monkhouse Show, Wogan, and Comedy Map of Britain, among other shows and programmes. At the end of August 2012, Syd and his wife Sheree went into uncharted territory by establishing The “Little” Restaurant at The Strawberry Gardens pub in Fleetwood, Lancashire, where Syd was born and raised.
