Abou Diaby (French pronunciation:? [abu djabi]; born 11 May 1986) is a French professional footballer who plays for the English club Arsenal as well as the France national team. Abou Diaby is also known as Abou Diaby. He typically plays in a box-to-box position, since he is skilled in both attacking and defending. He is characterised as a player who is “languid, elusive, and athletic,” who can either “dribble past opponents or sneak passes to team-mates,” and who is “languid, elusive, and athletic.” He is of Ivorian heritage and boasts “superb touch” as well as “great close control,” but he suffers from recurrent injuries, which have plagued him since he first arrived in France in 2003. He has drawn similarities to Arsenal veteran and compatriot Patrick Vieira because of his physical appearance and preferred position on the field. Diaby was born in Paris’s 10th arrondissement, although he grew up in the Parisian commune of Aubervilliers, where he now resides. He started his professional football career as a player for his local club CM Aubervilliers in Belgium. In 1998, he became a member of Red Star Paris. Diaby was chosen to join the Clairefontaine programme a year later..
He studied at the academy for four years while also training with Red Star at the same time. Diaby had already left Clairefontaine a year ago when he joined the professional team Paris Saint-Germain. Following an administrative blunder on the part of the club’s administrators, which resulted in Diaby becoming a free agent, he joined the Auxerre academy. It took him two years to go through the club’s development programme before he made his professional debut in the 2004–05 season. Diaby also represented the team in the UEFA Cup final in Kiev. After spending the first half of the 2005–06 season at Auxerre, Diaby signed a long-term deal with English club Arsenal in January 2006. The value for the transfer was not revealed at the time of signing. He made his professional debut with the club the following month and scored his first goal against Aston Villa three months later. Diaby sustained a catastrophic ankle fracture five months after joining Arsenal, and he has subsequently dealt with a slew of ailments throughout his professional career. He was a member of the French youth national team when he was younger, earning caps at the under-19 and under-21 levels. Prior to being called up to the senior squad, he was a member of the under-19 side that won the 2005 UEFA European Under-19 Football Championship in Poland. When Diaby made his senior international debut against Lithuania in March 2007, it was as part of the UEFA Euro 2008 qualifying campaign. He has only competed in one major international competition, the FIFA World Cup in South Africa in 2010. Diaby started all three of the team’s group stage matches in which it competed as a starting player.
