Brandon Dawayne Roy (born July 23, 1984) is a former NBA basketball player who spent time with the Portland Trail Blazers and Minnesota Timberwolves (NBA). After four years with the Washington Huskies, he was drafted sixth in the NBA Draft in 200His nickname was “B-Roy,” although Trail Blazers broadcaster Brian Wheeler called to him as “The Natural.” Roy declared his retirement from basketball on December 10, 2011, owing to a degenerative knee ailment, but he returned to the game in 2012 for a season with the Timberwolves. Roy, who was born in Seattle, Washington, had an instant impression on the Trail Blazers. At the conclusion of Roy’s first season, the team captain, Zach Randolph, was moved to the New York Knicks, allowing Roy to assume a leadership position on the club. Roy earned the NBA Rookie of the Year Award for 2006–07 in a near-unanimous voting, despite being hindered by an injured ankle. In his first season of 2006–07, he appeared in 57 games and averaged 16.8 points per game. In the 2008 NBA All-Star Game, the 2009 NBA All-Star Game, and the 2010 NBA All-Star Game, he was chosen as a reserve. In the 2008 game, Roy had the most minutes of any Western Conference player and tied for the most points in the West, and in the 2009 game, he had the most minutes of any player.
