Vladimir Lyubovny, better known as DJ Vlad, is a disc jockey and executive vice president of Loud.com, which is part of the SRC/Universal family. He was born on June 28, 1973 in Kiev, Soviet Union, now Ukraine. Vlad has directed and produced films. He is also the founder and CEO of VladTV.com, a video website dubbed “The TMZ of Hip-Hop” by many. Vlad started his work as a computer programmer after graduating from UC Berkeley with a degree in computer science. He ultimately founded GigaStaff, a dot-com staffing firm. Vlad shut down Gigastaff in 2000 and shifted his focus to music.
He relocated to New York and collaborated with DJ Dirty Harry on one of the most well-known mixtapes of all time, Rap Phenomenon. Rolling Stone, MTV, and XXL magazine all gave the Rap Phenomenon mixtapes honours. After that, Vlad shifted his focus to movies. He directed the American Gangster TV Series and the globally released documentary film “Ghostride the Whip.” Russell Simmons and Stan Lathan’s ‘Hip-Hop on Demand,’ a nationally syndicated, on-demand Hip-Hop lifestyle channel on Comcast, was also produced and presented by DJ Vlad. DJ Vlad launched VladTV.com, a hip hop video news site, in 2008, and it quickly rose to the top of YouTube’s news channels, outranking ABC News, the Associated Press, and others. DJ Vlad was reportedly attacked by rapper Rick Ross’ crew shortly after VladTV aired a storey on the artist’s previous job as a corrections officer. Vlad has launched a $4 million lawsuit in federal court in New York. A New York Federal Jury granted DJ Vlad $300,000 in his civil action on April 15, 2010, holding Ross responsible for his crew shattering Vlad’s eye socket during the 2008 Ozone Awards in Houston, Texas. The very popular Star & Buc Wild programme joined the VladTV family in April 2009 to perform a daily segment. DJ Vlad had an appearance on Adult Swim’s animation The Boondocks in May 2010.
