“Jerry” Sandusky (born January 26, 1944) is an American football coach who was convicted of serial child molesting. He is now serving a life sentence in prison. Sandusky spent his entire coaching career as an assistant coach, the most of which was spent at Pennsylvania State University under Joe Paterno (from 1969 to 1999). In 1986 and 1999, he was named Assistant Coach of the Year by the National Basketball Association. Sandusky is the author of many publications that are connected to his football coaching career. Sandusky was sentenced to 30 to 60 years in jail on October 9, 2012, which is essentially a life sentence for someone his age.
Sandusky’s attorneys filed an appeal against his conviction at Centre County Court in Pennsylvania on October 18, 201According to them, they did not have enough time to properly prepare for their client’s trial. Sandusky was transferred to Pennsylvania’s SCI Greene “supermax” prison on October 31, 2012, to spend the remainder of his term.
