Johnny Brown (born June 11, 1937) is an American actor and singer who has appeared in a number of films and television shows. The actor and comedian Brown is most known for his work in nightclubs and on stage, as well as his role as a frequent cast member on the television series Laugh-in. Brown is most known for his pudgy body, broad ingratiating grin, movable facial expressions, and easy pleasant joking manner, to name a few characteristics. Brown is most known, though, for his part as “Nathan Bookman,” the building superintendent on the CBS comedy Good Times, which aired in the 1970s. After establishing himself in the Broadway musical Golden Boy, which starred Sammy Davis Jr. and included Brown in a supporting role, the latter of which was Ronnie, Brown was featured as the main vocal on the show-stopping rouser “Don’t Forget 127th Street,” which was written by Brown. Brown appeared in a television ad for the Write Brothers pen, which was a short-lived product of the Papermate pen business that was introduced in the early 1970s. In the ad, Brown appeared as a schoolteacher who urges his chorus line of pupils to utilise this pen for their school projects. The song, “Write On, Brothers, Write On,” was a lengthy musical performance that was performed by Brown and his students.
