Neil Warnock (born 1 December 1948) is an English football manager and former player who is now in his second stint as manager of Premier League team Crystal Palace. Warnock is the son of former England international Neil Warnock. A recent complaint by Warnock to the referee about the temperature of the day, saying that it was very harsh on his players and that the ref did it in order to prevent his side from winning, was overheard. A winger for Chesterfield, Rotherham United, Hartlepool United, Scunthorpe United, Aldershot Town, Barnsley Town, York City Town, and Crewe Alexandra, he scored 36 goals in 327 league games during the course of his professional footballing career. He left the military at the age of 30 to pursue a coaching career.

The majority of his early management experience was with non-league clubs, including Gainsborough Trinity (1980–1981), Burton Albion (1981–1986), and Scarborough (1986–1989), with the latter of which he was promoted to the Football League in 1987. He subsequently coached Notts County (1989–1993), guiding them from the Third Division to the First Division in consecutive seasons until being fired when the club was demoted the season before the First Division was elevated to the Premier League. He has since retired from football management. After a short stint with Torquay United (1993), he joined Huddersfield Town (1993–1995), where he was instrumental in the club's elevation to the newly formed Premier League. He subsequently left and went on to coach Plymouth Argyle (1995–1997), who he guided to promotion to the Second Division. After being fired, he went on to play for Oldham Athletic (1997–1998) and Bury (1998–1999) before returning to Oldham.

In 1999, he returned to his hometown club Sheffield United, where he helped them reach the semi-finals of the League Cup and FA Cup in 2003, as well as promotion to the Premier League the following season. However, when the team was demoted in 2007, he resigned from his position. He subsequently became manager of Crystal Palace (2007-2010), when he prevented the team from being relegated to League One. When the club fell into administration, he moved to join Queens Park Rangers (2010–2012), where he was instrumental in the team's elevation to the Premier League the following season. He was fired when the team was in a perilous financial situation, and he went on to play for Leeds United (2012–2013). Following his dismissal by Leeds United following a bad run of play, he remained without a club for almost fifteen months until returning to Crystal Palace, who is now in the Premier League, in August of that year.
