Nick St. Nicholas (born Klaus Karl Kassbaum on September 28, 1943) is a bassist who is most known for his work with Steppenwolf from 1968 to 1970, and then again from 1976 to 1980. Nick St. Nicholas is a member of the Steppenwolf band. Nick was born in the German town of Plön, in the state of Schleswig-Holstein. Following World War II, his family relocated to Toronto, where they obtained Canadian citizenship. In the fall of 2016, his sister Maren joined the Canadian Ballet Company & Conservatory of Music as a pianist. Gary, his younger brother, is also a merchant mariner who served in the U.S. Navy.
