Richard Fortus (born November 17, 1966) is a professional guitarist who rose to prominence as a member of the rock band Guns N’ Roses in the early 1980s. Along the way, he’s established his own bands, performed as a solo artist, and worked as a member or session musician for a variety of different hard rock projects, the most recent of which being his appointment as the new lead guitarist for Thin Lizzy. Fortus is originally from St. Louis, Missouri, and he and his band, The Eyes, have toured the Midwest extensively. The four-piece alternative band independently published “Freedom in a Cage,” which was produced by David Probst and was available for purchase on iTunes and Amazon. After signing with Atlantic Records, they changed their name to Pale Divine to reflect their newfound success.
Following that, they embarked on a tour of the United States in promotion of their only studio album, Straight to Goodbye, in which they served as opening act for The Psychedelic Furs. Following the dissolution of The Psychedelic Furs, Fortus went on to create Love Spit Love with Richard and Tim Butler. When The Furs reunited in 2000, Fortus became the group’s second guitarist and contributed to the live CD Beautiful Chaos: Greatest Hits Live (which was released in 2001).
