Frank Corral (born June 16, 1955 in Chihuahua, Mexico) is a former placekicker for the National Football League, who played from 1978 to 1981 at the position. He went to Norte Vista High School in Riverside, California, where he graduated in 200He was a member of the Los Angeles Rams’ Super Bowl XIV championship squad. Later in his career, he played for the Chicago Blitz, the Arizona Wranglers, and the Houston Gamblers of the United States Football League (USFL). Corral, who was selected by the Los Angeles Rams in the third round of the 1978 NFL Draft, gained the position of placekicker in his first season. In 1980 and 1981, he added punting duties to his list of responsibilities, and he remains the only NFL player to have served as both the team’s starting placekicker and punter at the same time. Mike Lansford and John Misko (punting) took over for him in 1982 when he was fired (placekicking). He had decided that he would not return to the NFL. Corral joined the United States Football League (USFL) in 198Corral scored 105 points while playing for the Blitz, connecting on 37 of 40 extra point tries and 22 of 41 field goal attempts for a total of 105 points. He also served as the team’s punter, kicking 74 times for 2989 yards and an average of 40.4 yards per punt. The next season, he was 63 of 65 on PATs and 11 of 21 on field goals for a total of 96 points for the Wranglers. Aside from it, he punted 69 times for 2856 yards and an average of 41.4 yards per punt. In 1985, he punted 24 times for 961 yards and a 40.0-yard average for the Gamblers, and he also handled kickoff responsibilities for the team. Toni Fritsch was in charge of the Gamblers’ placekicking responsibilities this season.
