A professional baseball pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball, Jonathan Robert Papelbon (/?p?lb?n/; born November 23, 1980) is an American who now plays for the team. He was formerly a member of the Boston Red Sox, with whom he appeared in four consecutive Major League Baseball All-Star Games from 2006 to 2009, received the 2007 Major League Baseball Delivery Man Award, and helped the team to victory in the 2007 World Series.

 Throughout his professional baseball career, he has worn the jersey number 58 and has served as a reliever. Before joining Mississippi State to play collegiate baseball after relocating from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Papelbon played high school baseball at Bishop Kenny High School in Jacksonville, Florida, where he was named to the All-City team and won all-state honours.
