Mukesh Rishi (born April 19, 1956) is an Indian cinema actor who has appeared in films in many languages, including Hindi, Punjabi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada. Following graduation from Chandigarh and two years working in Mumbai, he left India to work in Fiji, where he met his future wife, who is of Fijian-Indian origin and whose family owns a traditional department store. Following their marriage, they relocated to New Zealand, where Mukesh began his modelling career. However, owing to his hectic work schedule, he was unable to devote much time to model work. In addition, he was dissatisfied with his modelling jobs, and his heart ached for the familiarity of home.
In order to further his acting career, he returned to Mumbai after seven years and enrolled in Roshan Taneja’s acting school. It was in 1988 that he had his first break in Tollywood and went on to establish himself as a major character actor. Despite the fact that he began his acting career as a villain in Telugu films, he has subsequently expanded his repertoire to include some pleasant parts. Among others who have made this move are Amrish Puri, Puneet Issar, Sharat Saxena and Pradeep Rawat, among others. He is the latest in a long line of non-Telugu speaking actors to take on such roles. In addition, he has appeared in Oriya films.
