Prahlad S. Friedman (born May 20, 1978) is a professional poker player from Los Angeles, California, who represents the United States. He has played on Full Tilt Poker under the screen identities "Spirit Rock" and "Mahatma," on Ultimate Bet under the screen name "Zweig," on the Prima Network with the screen name "Zweig," and on PokerStars under the screen name "Prefontaine." During the 2003 World Series of Poker (WSOP), Friedman took home a bracelet in the $1,500 pot limit hold'em tournament, earning him a total of $109,400. Later, in 2005, he competed in the WSOP circuit event at Harrah's Rincon, where he finished in second place and earned $363,165. Friedman outlasted nearly 8,700 other players in the 2006 World Series of Poker Main Event, finishing in 20th place and earning $494,797 in prize money. The confrontation with Jeff Lisandro, in which Friedman believed Lisandro had failed to put in his ante, which was worth 5,000 chips, was one of the most talked-about moments of the tournament. While playing through the hand, Friedman and Lisandro were continually arguing, and the dealer reprimanded them both for bringing it up. Friedman did not back down, and he claimed that Lisandro had "robbed" the other guy of the 5,000 dollars in cash. Lisandro became very enraged upon hearing this and engaged Friedman in an argument, threatening him that he would "tear your head off, friend." Friedman attempted to resolve the situation with Lisandro after the performance, but Lisandro refused to speak with him thereafter. Many in the poker community, including ESPN's Norman Chad and Cardplayer Magazine's Todd Brunson, expressed their displeasure with Friedman's behaviour. Finally, it was found during the replay that Lisandro had, in fact, put down an ante on the table. When one of the blinds was being posted, a third player at the table failed to put in his ante; the dealer quickly fixed his oversight.) Friedman's total live tournament wins had surpassed $2,300,000 as of the end of 2010. His 5 cashes at the WSOP account for $713,372 of those earnings, making him the most successful WSOP player ever. Friedman studied ethnic studies at the University of California, Berkeley. It was there that he experienced his first significant amount of poker action. Friedman began by honing his skills at the Oaks Club's $15–$30 limit hold'em table, before moving on to the no limit game at the Lucky Chances gambling establishment. Friedman's normal online limits are $25–$50 and $50–$100 for no-limit hold'em and pot-limit Omaha games, respectively, in no-limit hold'em and pot-limit Omaha games. Friedman is also well-known on online poker message boards for his raps, which have gained him a large following. As part of an ESPN "The Nuts" feature during the WSOP circuit event at Harrah's Rincon in 2005, he rapped for RakeBreak during the Main Event of the 2006 World Series of Poker. He has also rapped for the poker website RakeBreak. Friedman has been married to Dee Luong Friedman, a professional poker player, since 2002, after being engaged to her since 2002. He follows a vegan diet. Friedman won the WPT Legends of Poker tournament in August 2009, taking home a prize pool of $1,000,900. He beat the "November Niner" in the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event. Kevin Schaffel is in charge. In the years leading up to 2008, Ultimate Bet was embroiled in a huge cheating scandal in which Friedman was one of the most significant victims, having suffered losses in the millions. Several members of the poker community expressed their displeasure with Friedman when reports began to circulate in December 2010 that Friedman would be signing with UB. When asked how he could join up with a poker site when he had been scammed out of millions of dollars, Friedman said, "I feel robbed out of millions of dollars."
