Tim Hardaway, Jr. (born March 16, 1992) is an American professional basketball shooting guard who currently plays for the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played his college basketball for the Michigan Wolverines, and after finishing his junior season with the team in 2012–13, he decided to enter the NBA Draft as a free agent. He is the son of Tim Hardaway, a former All-Star in the National Basketball Association. As a high school basketball player for Miami Palmetto High School, he was named to the All-City team on three separate occasions. His four Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Week awards during the 2010–11 NCAA Division I men’s basketball season included three in the final four weeks during which he averaged over 20 points per game to help the 2010–11 team move up to fourth in the Big Ten Conference men’s basketball season standings. Following the season, he was named to the honourable mention All-Big Ten team and to the unanimous Big Ten All-Freshman team after being named to both teams. He set a new single-season record for three-point field goals made by a Michigan freshman when he did so. He was named to the Collegeinsider.com Freshmen All-America team in 2011 and represented the United States at the 2011 FIBA Under-19 World Championship. While playing as a sophomore for the 2011–12 team, he was named to the All-Big Ten 3rd team in 2011–12. In 2012–13, he was named to the All-Big Ten first team (coaches) and second team (media) teams.
