In some great news, Arunachal Pradesh athletes have achieved a remarkable feat by winning 5 gold and 4 bronze medals at the 39th National Senior Kyorugi and the 12th National Senior Poomsae Taekwondo Championship. This historic victory took place in Guwahati, Assam, from September 9 to 11, where they competed against more than 1,300 athletes from across India.

 

Arunachal Pradesh Athletes Stand Out

Out of the 31 Arunachal athletes who participated in the competition, several stood out with their outstanding performances. Rikpy Nyodu, Miching Taja, Ontey Khamblai, Kame Bayang, Likha Govind, Khinsan Wangsu, Achum Sangha, Lumter Uli, and Gangpgung Gangsa secured gold medals in individual and pair categories. Meanwhile, Miching Taja, Muskan Manyu, Radha Bangsia, OntGangphung Gangsa, Mari Karbak, Likha Govind, and Tadar Kukug contributed to the state’s success by clinching bronze medals.

 

Guided by Dedicated Mentors

The Arunachal contingent was led by Likha Robin, the general secretary of the Arunachal Taekwondo Association. They were skillfully coached by Suraj Ali, Kayang Darang, Yabi Pudu, and Ranjit Biswakarma. The support from team members Cristine Borang and Jina Yangfo played a crucial role in this achievement. Their hard work and dedication have brought immense pride to both the athletes and the people of Arunachal Pradesh.

Aside from the athletes’ impressive medal haul, Biswakarma was honored with the title of Best Poomsae Coach.
