In a recent development, the owner of the famous Hyderabad eatery, Varalakshmi Tiffins, along with two others, has been apprehended in a drug case. The police have confiscated a substantial amount of illegal drugs, amounting to Rs 14 lakh, during the operation.
The Arrest
The Hyderabad police have taken three individuals into custody, including Prabhakar Reddy, the owner of Varalakshmi Tiffins, and his associate Venkata Shiva Sai Kumar, who owns Palleturu Pullatlu. They stand accused of both using and distributing narcotics like cocaine and MDMA. The illegal substances were traced back to Goa, from where they were being smuggled into the city.
Anuradha’s Involvement
The prime accused, Anuradha, had been under suspicion for her involvement in the drug trade in Goa for a considerable period. In an attempt to generate income, she began transporting drugs to Hyderabad using public transportation. It was during this time that she crossed paths with Prabhakar and Venkata, who, aside from their prominence in the local food industry, were also found to be consumers of illicit substances. The authorities have reason to believe that Anuradha may have had other customers, and they are now examining her phone conversations and WhatsApp groups for further leads. Additionally, efforts are underway to ascertain the source of Anuradha’s narcotics supply from Goa.
Drug Distribution Operation
Anuradha’s modus operandi involved procuring substances from Goa and then distributing them to her acquaintances in Hyderabad. Allegedly, Prabhakar joined in on the drug consumption after coming into contact with Anuradha. Together, they ventured to Goa to acquire drugs at lower prices and then sold them in Hyderabad at inflated rates. The police have filed charges under Sections 21, 22, and 29 in connection with the case.
Sai Kumar’s Connection
Sai Kumar, the owner of Palleturu Pullatlu, sought assistance from Prabhakar at Varalakshmi Tiffins when he decided to launch his own hotel. This association led him to become involved in drug consumption as well.
Conclusion
The apprehension of the Varalakshmi Tiffins owner and associates sheds light on the illicit drug trade infiltrating various industries. The police’s vigilant efforts have not only thwarted a significant drug operation but also raised awareness about the need for stringent measures against such activities.
