Mike Tyson Forced to Postpone Fight With Jake Paul After Ulcer Flareup

Mike Tyson, famous boxer, has recently shared that his highly anticipated match against Jake Paul will be postponed. Tyson had to postpone the match scheduled for July 20 due to an ulcer flareup he experienced earlier this month.

Medical Advice Leads to Postponement

Tyson’s team announced on May 31 that he has been advised by doctors to decrease his training following a recent medical consultation. They suggested easing into training over the next few weeks before he can resume full training without any limitations.

New Date to Be Announced

Fans eagerly awaiting the match will have to wait a bit longer. Tyson’s team will announce a new fight date on June 7. The original location, AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, remains unchanged.

Fight Details Remain the Same

The planned fight between Tyson and Paul will be eight rounds, each lasting two minutes. Both fighters will wear 14-ounce gloves and no headgear. The match was set to air live on Netflix, but it is unclear if the new date will affect this arrangement.

Tyson and Paul Agree on Delay

Both Tyson and Paul agree that the postponement is fair, allowing both athletes ample time to prepare. Tyson expressed his gratitude to his fans for their support and understanding during his recovery period.

Tyson’s Statement on Recovery

“Unfortunately, due to my ulcer flareup, I have been advised by my doctor to lighten my training for a few weeks to rest and recover,” Tyson said. “My body is in better overall shape than it has been since the 1990s and I will be back to my full training schedule soon. Jake Paul, this may have bought you some time, but in the end, you will still be knocked out and out of boxing for good.”

Tyson’s In-Flight Medical Emergency

Reports indicated that Tyson suffered a medical emergency on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles on May 27. Paramedics boarded the plane after landing at Los Angeles International Airport. Tyson’s team later explained that he felt nauseous and dizzy due to an ulcer flareup just before landing.

Professional Boxing Backgrounds

Mike Tyson had a professional boxing career from 1985 to 2005, earning a reputation as one of the sport’s greatest fighters. Jake Paul, meanwhile, began his boxing career in 2018 after gaining fame as a social media star.
