Kathy Mattea (pronounced ma-TAY-a) (born June 21, 1959 in South Charleston, West Virginia) is an American country music and bluegrass singer who incorporates folk, Celtic and traditional country elements into her songs. She is best known for her work with the band the Mattea Brothers. She has been a recording artist since 1983, and during that time she has released seventeen studio albums and scored more than thirty songs on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks list. It is comprised of the number-one songs “Goin’ Gone,” “8een Wheels and a Dozen Roses,” “Come By the Heart,” and “Burnin’ Old Memories,” as well as twelve other Top Ten singles from the group.
