Ronald Curt Chaney (born November 16, 1955; alias Ron Chaney Jr.) is the great-grandson of cinema actor and make-up pioneer Lon Chaney and the grandson of actor Lon Chaney, Jr.; his father, rancher and farmer Ronald Creighton Chaney (1930–1987), was a rancher and farmer. He was born in California, and his ancestors were French, English, and Irish. In high school, Chaney attended some acting lessons. In a short film, he portrayed the wolf man, and later in Mach 2 he played Captain Wallace (2001). He played Bela Reinhardt in Eben McGarr’s 2009 film House of the Wolf Man, which was a loving homage to his grandfather’s Universal horror pictures from the 1940s, including
Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man, House of Frankenstein, House of Dracula, and Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein. He has contributed to Lon Chaney, Jr.’s book A Century of Chaneys, which he started in 196Ron took up the assignment and conducted research, conducted interviews, gathered information, and preserved the Chaney family history. Lon Chaney, Sr., Cleva Creighton Chaney, and his grandpa, Lon Chaney, Jr., are all included in the book. Ron Chaney plans to create a film on his grandpa and great-life grandfather’s one day. He operates Chaney Entertainment and resides in Palm Springs, California, where he often attends film conventions and talks about his grandfather’s and great-life grandfather’s and jobs in the film industry.
